Kwadaso Agricultural College Shines at the Kosmos Innovation Center AgriTech Challenge Pro 2025 Finals

Kwadaso Agricultural College (KAC) made an impressive mark at the 2025 Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) AgriTech Challenge Pro Finals, which brought together some of the best of Ghana’s young agricultural innovators assigned to 16 tertiary academic institutions.

Making its first appearance at the AgriTech Challenge Pro Finals, the college was represented by COGAM Manufacturing, who clinched an award of USD 10,000 with their innovative and environmentally friendly smokeless charcoal solution produced from agricultural waste which comes with an ignition and quenching substance. Their business not only showcased their creativity and technical know-how but also addressed critical issues of environmental sustainability and alternative energy sources.

The achievement follows the college’s strong performance at the KIC AgriTech Challenge Classic 2024 Finals, where both COGAM Manufacturing and Eggstraordinary Foods received USD 2,000 each for their outstanding business concepts and to further build traction. Additionally, Team Marthos Aqua Feed progressed to the AgriTech Challenge Pro 2025 through the public ecosystem pool, also earning an award of USD 2,000. The AgriTech Challenge journey began with an agripreneurship orientation for 230 young entrepreneurs in and around Kwadaso Agricultural College. This was followed by a market research tour to Vester Oil, Wontesty Ventures of CSIR – CRI, Farmerline, Shammo Farms and Trading Enterprise, Kuma Farms, KITA and KAC Farms. The AgriTechies formed teams comprising 4 people maximum and received market research funds of GHS 3,500.00 each before the zonal pitch, and after the zonal pitch three teams received a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) funds of GHS 5,000.00 each to work on their MVP.

Kwadaso Agricultural College’s participation was guided by a team of experts.  Mr. Kwame Ansah Baffour served as the Technical Lead, Dr. Ishak Shaibu served as the Technical Officer, Dr. Benjamin Aboagye Danso served as the Faculty Advisor and Gladys Ekyem-Andoh served as the Programs Officer in the project. The technical team’s expertise and mentorship played a key role in refining the business models and pitches of the participating teams, ensuring they were competitive and impactful.

The College’s success in its debut at the KIC AgriTech Challenge is a testament to the dedication and innovation of its students and staff. It also highlights the importance of collaborative efforts between academic institutions, industry partners, and development organizations in nurturing agricultural entrepreneurship and driving sustainable development in Ghana.

Kwadaso Agricultural College extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Kosmos Innovation Center, Kosmos Energy, Mastercard Foundation, the Management and Board of Kwadaso Agricultural College, the KAC and National Ideation Team, and all partners for their unwavering support and commitment to empowering young agripreneurs.
